Welcome to June!

Well hello there - it’s been a while.

It’s already June and the kids are almost out of school, where did the time go? I have a bunch of different updates and will try to get a few of them out here.

  • I recently went and visited family in the DC area with my youngest and had a great time. Her cousins are growing fast and it was great to help out with house chores - sometimes they just can’t wait.

  • The job hunt is active and ongoing. I’m starting to get excited for new opportunities and am looking to put in some real effort to finding my next role.🤞

  • I completed the Vancouver BC Half Marathon. This was expected as I have raced before but it has been a long time and it felt good to get out there and run a clean race. I didn’t break any speed records but hit my finish time in line with my training. I think I’m going to have to do another soonish. 💪

  • I’m continuing to learn and experiment with AI. I have subscriptions with Claude, ChatGPT, and Openrouter and have mainly been using Daniel Miessler’s PAI project for a harness. There’s still so much to learn but it has been fascinating so far.

  • I just 100 days on my Duolingo streak! It started with Italian and then I switched back to French. I used to be fluent and this seems like the best slow and steady way to work the vocab back into my brain. I am curious about the kids using it to learn in the future but have yet to cross that bridge.

  • I have recently invested in a number of substacks and other content with the intent of changing my media diet and so far I have been pleased with the results. I will prob need to do a separate post on that some other day - so at least you have that to look forward to!

I’m looking to get more practice writing and I figure this blog is a good place to start. Maybe I will create a gamified Duolingo style tracker for blog posts to keep me going? TBD. I just listened to this Derek Thompson podcast about AI and creativity and it really got me to think about where I need to use AI and where I need to do ‘work’ on my own. For now, more writing it is.

How long to the next post? TBD.
