It’s somehow already Sunday morning.

Hi, I’m back and trying to create a writing streak - here’s to momentum!!

Here are my quick updates for the week:

  • Job hunt is active, I applied to some interesting roles and reset my perspective on using AI to draft Cover letters. Essentially AI was hitting my keyword targets but can’t really get to real writing quality I need. While a frustrating lesson, resetting to manual writing and drafting again is good exercise for barely used writing muscles. Next update will probably be about what happens when you over do those muscles. 🤔
  • The World Cup (soccer) has started and I’m enjoying the energy. All the flags and cultures coming together has been great and such a narrative change from the past months (years?) of sad trombone.
  • Go Team USA (USMNT - need to work on that.) The win over Paraguay was the best game I have seen them play in a long time. Also more scoring than most of the other games to date.🇺🇸
  • Will work on a few other updates to the website today++
    • Travel module is a mess, need to make it usable
    • Looking to have my content history/ profile connect to a db and web organizer so I can share recommendations more easily.
  • Anthropic’s Claude Fable and Mythos models appear to have been taken down at the request/ order of the USG (Commerce). It looks like it was a late Friday surprise. Will be interesting to see how this gets managed going forward. (I haven’t used the models.)
    • Anthropic will want to sell this model access to customers as my impression is it was the best available SOTA globally (also very $$$).

    • USG appears to want foreigners/non-us persons to not get access to this model? This is not surprising but is also something new from an action/implementation perspective. I wasn’t aware of any previous restrictions for nationality and/or cross border access being applied in this fashion and am curious to see how it evolves. Hoping it matures and this doesn’t turn into a ready, fire, aim exercise.

  • Dad Brain Episode - Armchair Quarterback/Dax Sheppard POD interviewing Darby Saxbe (Thanks Nick) - LINK
